Its an unrealistic way to go about it, that's for sure. As support wanes for an occupation what's the executive supposed to do? Go against the majority and keep soldiers there? And if deaths increase? The cry for departure will just grow louder.

Well personally I think most of your treaty obligations are a joke to begin with, and need to be abandoned
But the US should probably fulfill them until it decides to back away from those treaties.
