In other news, the Ballarat city council has voted to ban all outsiders after the discovery as tens of thousands have descended on the town. The Mayor stated, "holy shit, where in the hell did all these people come from?"

Whoa...
I was probably already going to get a metal detector anyway, but this totally tips me over in favor of it.
You think finding treasure is boring, Prof? Take it to the beach, park, or field after a concert or big event and find rings, watches, earrings, all kinds of stuff. I happen to live near some interesting historical stuff so I'm going to check that out for some cool pioneer artifacts. (Bonnie and Clyde supposedly spent the night in a field out back of my place for example)
