Tend to agree about the Hurt Locker. Well made, but not that great of a movie.
Was it better than its weaksauce competition that year, in terms of movies that aren't Tarantino, Scifi, or animated, and thus have a chance at winning? Probably.
Her competition was Cameron (scifi, so no), Tarantino (Tarantino, so no), Lee Daniels (nothing was precious about Precious), and Reitman (Dunno why anyone was nominated for anything for Up in the Air)
