I have to consider you believe rights are completely arbitrary to this "we" character you keep referring too.

I went strait for your declaration on rights because i believe it would be a much more compelling discussion then some of my observations of current western society. Beyond that, if there isnt a baseline of natural rights without a limit on the authority of this "we" character, how would i ever expect you, as the reader, to even compute anything more sophisticated then the decree of authority?

I don't find it compelling at all. You think rights materialize out of the air. They don't. We create them. Full stop. Once upon a time, women did not have the right to vote. Then society decided they did, and suddenly preventing a woman from voting constituted a violation of her rights, for which she can seek reparations. Before that, she couldn't. Her right to vote wasn't being violated because it did not exist. We create rights. They are a social construct, not a force of nature.

No, there's no such thing as "natural rights". Those who have the right to vote have it because society says so, no other reason. Without society to back them up, the concept of rights has no meaning. Rights are just as artificial as laws; they're what we say they are, they don't exist independently of the society that enjoys them.

Natural rights are self-evident truths that are evidence being that all men are created equal. We are all sovereign sentient beings who have the natural right to be free of the initiation or force, fraud, and coercion to their life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Especially from this "we" character, because natural unalienable rights predate government. The only legitimate role of government is to protect these self-evident truths, and when the consent of the govern is broken and the government (i presume is your "we" character) becomes destructive to these ends, it is not the right of the people, its the duty to throw off this government and to alter or abolish it.


I think ill ask these very simple questions one more time to help elaborate on the ideas of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
