You could also, I dunno, raise the ceiling on income for SS contributions.
You could also do something serious about reducing health care COSTS, instead of just promising that a) (Dem idea) the gov't will just pay the bill or b) (GOP idea) that we'll give you a "voucher" up to a certain amount and after that you're on your own.

Just because we've rejected the immoral alternative doesn't mean we can't construct a better system. It just won't be all that great for objectivists and other coercion apologists, such as American libertarians.
