It's pretty sad how persistent falsehoods remain. The gov't involvement (other than deregulation) in the housing crisis was extremely minimal and every gov't and academic study that is reputable has said as much. There is no credible empirical data to suggest the gov't caused (or even really contributed to) the housing bubble.

Yet this is what the GOP has done with regards to information. It is a continuing theme in their attempt to misinform the populace and make us dumber.

Climate Change
Evolution
Housing bubble
trickle-down economics
Etc.

It's a disturbing pattern when a large segment of the population is training us to believe 2+2=5. How Orwellian.
