It was murder, straight up.
No matter what you think about this guy, just deciding to burn it down when there was no chance of him going anywhere... that is just straight murder. Judge, jury, executioner.
If there is no threat to yourself or anyone else, you don't kill the guy, you just wait him out. Even if it takes days, you wait. Human life is worth more than that, even if the person affected doesn't think so.
