i have never driven a car while drunk. drunkness isn't a pleasant experience for me like it is for most people - it just makes me feel incredibly sick and disgusting. so i never drink enough to give me anything more than a mild buzz, and have never had to enough to drink to be anywhere near the legal limit while driving.
as far as number of DUI's go, i dunno blame the car culture/urban layout. most cities are set up to ensure only one form of transportation: cars. so ppl have no other option than to drive or have someone else drive when going to the bar *shrug*

I know people with DUIs that have gone on to successful careers. It hurts employment opportunites, absolutely, and it should. To put the lives of others in danger so you can go drink is totally irresponsible and they deserve all the shit they get for it. No sympathy from me.
