all you have to do is get hurt to get a purple heart. the above medal is higher in precedence than the new one too. and the medal i linked? what, they just have to sit at a desk and tell other people what to do.

but of course that's the harder part. boots on the ground need to be told what to do, the harder part is leading and controlling them and using them effectively, strategy over tactics. only thing higher in precedence to telling people what to do is extreme acts of heroism.

the new medal awards people who are using their tools. yeah okay, they are not in harms way. but cyber war could be devastating without these people. not talking about drone combat, i'm talking about giving an award to someone who created stuxnet

Considering the high rate of PTSD amongst drone operators, I'd say they deserve recognition like this.

Just because they aren't boots-on-the-ground type of people doesn't make their jobs insignificant. Hell, many high ranking Taliban and Al Quada operatives have been blow to bits by these guys. They deserve as much recognition as anyone else.
