How about an IQ test for all lawmakers? If youre not a member of Mensa youre not allowed to make laws.

You have waiting periods for guns in some states don't you? I can't see why waiting three days is a problem, all it takes is a little forward planning.
Anyway, this is a state ruling, not federal, so that should keep conservatives/libertarians happy.
