Cyprus is a tax haven and the money-laundering capital of Europe. It is hardly surprising that other European countries are unwilling to write a cheque to bail them out with no strings attached.

If every person with more than €100,000 in a bank account had to pay a 10% tithe, most of the world's people would approve.

This is why I keep minimal funds in my bank accounts now. Its just not worth them keeping your money.
