The market solution here isn't that somehow there will magically be a minimum wage. Companies will dunk costs as low as possible period, so unskilled labor is always going to go low. The solution here is that people can't live on that wage so they have to move to more skilled positions that pay higher.
My issue isn't really with the concept of minimum wage, but rather the fact that it doesn't solve the problem. There are tons of unfilled skilled labor jobs and we aren't getting people off the unskilled jobs and into the skilled jobs. That is the problem we need to solve. Paying people artificial rates for jobs that aren't very valuable doesn't solve anything.
