The main thing that is going to change things will be the decentralization of manufacturing and distribution. Society is controlled for the most part by controlling the means of production. Once the method of production via human labor becomes obsolete that system of social control will be gone forever.
You see, when you analyze the problem, what it boils down to is modern society's abuse of the concept of division of labor. Additive manufacturing and nanotech have the potential to render that problem obsolete, once fully developed.
That's going to change things.
