that was a shitty opener. not just because nothing happened and, outside of kings landing, wasn't very entertaining, but they deviated so hard from the books on a number of things

the lack of battle at the fist

sam + a white walker

Ya, just caught up with Vikings. Not sure I buy this idea that they didn't know Britain existed, but hey, fantastic show, pretty happy with the characters in particular. Awesome that they've based the characters on mythic figures like that.

I missed the premier as well.

Im staying away from this series until it finishes the season so I can watch the whole thing in one go.

While Season 1 was pretty close to the book, I guess it's to be expected that they will stray further and further away from the original books as the series goes along. The massive amount of characters Martin introduces along the way just makes it too difficult.

I think HBO has now cast Ciaran Hinds incorrectly twice. He's a good actor but he doesn't feel right as Mance Rayder. Just like he didn't feel right as Caeser in Rome.

Missed opportunity to let Ingrid utter her "You Know Nothing Jon Snow" line again. Hopefully it will make another appearance soon...
