Marijuana Legalization Reaches New Awesome High

Can somebody update me on what is keeping it illegal still? I don't mean the "gateway" nonsense, I mean the real reason.

Because the way the story used to go was: obviously pot has medicinal effects. But big pharmas had not yet found a way to synthesize them into a drug which they could sell as a monopoly so they of course fought all attempts to legalize growing and selling the real thing.

Is that still the holdup?

My guess is pot kinda expands the mind and make you question things. The govt DOES NOT like its dogma questioned. And there is the matter of lost profit by alcohol, cigarette, and big pharma entities, so they constantly lobby (bribe ) aginst it. But the real barnburner is a totaly natural thing being placed off limits by a nation that blows its own horn as being the pillar of freedom in the world, and that alone = massive LOL.

What's so mind-blowing to me is that alcohol is legal. Ask any law enforcement/security/doorman type would they rather deal with drunk people or high people and I think you already know the answer.

Oh, and alcohol is the ultimate gateway drug.

Imo, alcohol is 10x more dangerious then pot. I have a feeling they know it also but choose to remain in the dark ages. The fact remains alcohol related incidences lands more people in prison and the graveyard then pot, and they probably know that too.

My point was depending on the person, alcohol usually leads to violent behavior.

You don't see that with pot.
