Point being, when it comes to polls that ask people what they want... they are wrong.

So you don't support mental health initiatives then, and you don't support preventing mentally ill people from acquiring firearms, because it won't work. So why did you say you did?

Good because background checks are pointless. Anyone who can't be trusted with a gun can't really be trusted with anything and should be in prison. Anyone who is not in prison should have all the same rights and liberties as the rest of us and their criminal records should be sealed. The only useful purpose of background checks is to keep guns away from black-listed patriots who might use them to terrorize the public officials who regularly abuse their powers of office.
