Elway had to build him up during and after the playoffs.. What else could he do? An exec can't be running down his players. That'd be idiotic.. And like I said, as far as Tebow goes PW wise he did nothing wrong, there was no reason for Elway to criticize Tebow in public.. But the media and the fans just ran with the Tebow mania and it had a life of its own, and IMO that forced Elway's hand. If he wanted out of this Tebow mania and having the fans and media making the call on who's going to be the Broncos QB from week to week, then Elway had to go hard after Manning, and he did.
Oz: I didn't say Tebow was the only bad QB.. With some of the other guys you posted my guess is in some cases they played because that's all the team had.. Denver had another QB, Orton.. Would he work out? I have no idea, but they never really gave him a chance.. The calls to put Tebow in came quickly, to quick.. And to be sure that didn't do Orton any good either. Sanchez and his fragile ego will be in that seat this year. A lot of being a good athlete is confidence.. And having the media and the fans chanting for the back-up everyweek isn't good for the starting QB's confidence.
Oz you know your football.. YouTube a Tebow video of him throwing the ball.. He has a terrible motion.. It's slow, loopy, he aims the ball.. He looks more like a pitcher than a QB.
He'll never be a good QB, and if he continues to run the ball instead of throwing it eventually he'll get killed. This isn't college football, the NFL's defense are much faster than college..
