It's a method of attacking US workers and driving down the their already shitty wages. It's outsourcing except they just move foreign workers here instead moving the business to foreign country.

It's a way to get cheaper labor.

well my company added 120 full time devs last year in my department and we're hiring more, and people keep leaving for other companies with better pay... yeah... there is quite high demand for it. i dunno if it's a nefarious plot. obviously they want to pay as low as possible but i do not think that people from india make less when given the same job on average (if they are located here in the states... in bangledesh, yeah, they do)

Yeah, but after a bunch of them get here and the market is saturated it will drive wages down.

Sometimes tech companies don't pay the foreign workers less, but because foreign workers are bound by the H1-B visa to work for the company, there's a lower risk that they'll be drawn away by another company's headhunters.

HR is a cutthroat business in the Silicon Valley.
