Kinda funny that they're making a big deal about that... aren't carriers being essentially crossed out of the future of military...

Heh. Gotta replace the ones they've already got. (Actually, looking it up there are now two under construction.)
Pretty much the first question the powers that be asks anytime anything happens anywhere is, "Where is the closest carrier?"
They don't want to give that up. Makes sense, in a dark, depressing sort of way.
