I think a lot of the bad rap becomes because of Vichy France as opposed to the North which had to withstand the onslaught of the Nazis and like Dharma says, put up a pretty awesome underground resistance.

France helped America win the Revolution. They provided the backbone of training for our Continental army.

They gave us our Sweet Lady Liberty.

They gave us much of our philosophy and ideology on liberty.

They have great wine and champagne. You can't beat their cooking with a stick.

I love French women.

They got booted out of Vietnam before we did, even.

yeah their heavier tanks, like the b1 and the d2, also moved about 20 KPH rolling downhill. completely useless against panzers 1-4 that could cruise at 30-60 KPH and just run circles around them.

lnrw is right though, the French did surrender too quickly to the Germans when there could have been a lot more fighting to be had- France still had many excellent divisions north of Paris and in Belgium that could have been deployed to counter attack before it was too late.
